Field Evaluation Electrical Inspector

Job Purpose:
The Field Evaluation Electrical Inspector is responsible for independently performing testing and evaluation of industrial electrical equipment to a variety of U.S., Canadian and other international product safety standards.  Duties include writing reports and communicating with clients primarily in the industrial sector.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and communicate directly with clients.
  • Manage project schedule and budget.
  • Follow all safety procedures and perform work in a safe manner.
  • Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test)
  • Read and understand electrical drawings, schematics and manufacturing instructions.
  • Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
  • Conduct thorough construction review and document results.
  • Verify construction is corrected if required to standards or manufactures instructions.
  • Test equipment in accordance with standards.
  • Supply information for quotes such as length of project, site needed, rental equipment, samples, and standards that will be used.
  • Complete preliminary design reviews) both on and off site.
  • Provide sales support such as attending client visits.
  • Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing.
  • Provide on-going support to clients as needed.
  • Within policy guidelines, identify, properly document, and recommend engineering judgments.
  • Perform other work as required.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2 years related experience.
  • Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats.
  • Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties.
  • Ability to travel as business needs dictate.

 

Preferred:

  • Previous experience with US, Canadian and other international product standards (UL, CSA, IEC, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; electrical engineering.

 Job Purpose:
The Electrical Power Systems Engineer will collect data, perform modeling and analysis of new, or existing power systems in the development of short circuit, coordination and arc flash studies using a variety of software systems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and communicate directly with clients.
  • Manage project schedule and budget.
  • Follow all safety procedures and perform work in a safe manner.
  • Acquire data for creation/revision of facility power study models.
  • Create new and modify existing electrical distribution systems and perform power system calculations and studies, including short circuit analysis, equipment evaluation, equipment coordination, and arc flash evaluation.
  • Generate power system studies and reports.
  • Create Arc Flash labels for field equipment.
  • Provide detailed descriptions of potential deficiency mitigation.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar position.
  • Proficient with data gathering and modeling of electrical systems.
  • Proficient and experienced in creating system models, power system studies, and reports.
  • Strong ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision and report on activities to Project Manager on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Good working knowledge of NFPA 70E.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Previous experience with one or more of the following programs: SKM, Easy Power, Etap.

    Job Purpose:
    The NETA Certified, Electrical Field Test Technician will inspect, test, collect data and maintain electrical equipment at client sites.  The equipment includes Switchboards, panelboards, transformers, cabling etc.  Technicians will work with electrical equipment, such as SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, pad mount transformers/GSU transformers, grounding, instrument transformers, and other protective devices.

    Responsibilities

    • Low, Medium, and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing
    • Testing medium-voltage cables – Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot.
    • Power transformer testing – Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
    • Test both electro-mechanical, microprocessor and solid-state relays
    • Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning.
    • Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
    • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Previous level 2, 3 or 4 NETA Certification
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
    • Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
    • Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
    • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
    • Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, able to lift 70 lbs.

        Job Purpose:
        The Protection and Controls Technician will perform testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and modification of Utility protection systems including complex substation and generating station systems.    This work will be performed on site at customer generation and substation facilities.  All work will be accurately documented and reported.

         

        Responsibilities:

        • Perform elemental and functional testing of electromechanical, solid state and microprocessor-based relays using relay test set.
        • Verify integrity of protection systems by injecting potential, current and or other signals into the protection system.
        • Review drawings and relay setting files to assure reliable and consistent system protection.
        • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
        • Maintain detailed records of test results.
        • Guide other field personnel as necessary.

         

        Qualifications

        Required:

        • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar position.
        • Read, understand, and interpret drawings to include but not limited to, one line, three-line, schematic, and connection diagrams.
        • Proficient and experienced in elemental and functional testing of electromechanical, solid state and microprocessor-based relays.
        • Ability to travel and work remotely.
        • Ability to troubleshoot complex utility protection systems.
        • Strong ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision and report on activities to Project Manager on a regular and consistent basis.

          The Infrared test Technician will safely perform infrared surveys of electrical equipment at a variety of customer facilities.  The work includes identifying equipment to be surveyed, opening, and replacing covers, capturing Infrared and natural light images, taking current measurements and properly documenting results. May include other testing duties as assigned.
